Having a bad week? Love.
Having a good week? Love.
Butting heads with your boss? Love.
Not sure how to have that hard conversation with a friend? Love.
Maybe you find yourself in a painful situation with a family member not knowing what to do? Love.
Perhaps you feel in over your head wondering if there's light at the end of the tunnel? Love.
As cliche as it might sound, LOVE is the first and last response we should have. Love conquerors all things. We may not have all the answers, but we can Love. We may not be perfect (and we aren't! Who is?), we can Love. We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we can Love. We might be figuring life out, but we can Love in the process.
Love is like rain in the midst of a drought. Love is like dew on the flowers in the morning. Love is like honey when you crave something sweet. Love is like gold. Love never fails. It always gives you and others around you what they need most -- hope for tomorrow and reassurance -- reassurance that you matter. Love says I see you. I see your heart. You are valuable. You are beautiful.
All this stuff in life that we stress and worry about will fade away. But Love will last an eternity. Love is a language that unites people despite their differences. Love can bring polar opposites together. Love can melt hearts of stone. Love never fails.
As I sit at the bedside of a dying loved one this week and I don't know exactly what to do or what to say, I realize the answer is Love. Love doesn't have to have all the right answers or the right words to say. Love just shows up with a full heart ready to give and ready to receive. Love doesn't place expectations on oneself or on others. Love accepts things as they are. Love is pure. Love is raw. It's the most beautiful emotion and action given to us from God. God shows us how to love so that we can love Him, love ourselves and love others.
Although you may be like me and not know what to say or do, just Love. When in doubt, Love. Show up with open hands ready to receive and ready to give.
Like me, you may not be the strongest or the smartest. You may not be the wealthiest or the most famous, but gosh darn it, you can Love. We can all Love well. It's a choice we make -- to love or not to love. And the answer is always Love. Love is all we need.
Love Well this week. Love those who might never be able to love you in return.
