Live with your eyes wide open. Be prepared to be surprised. Your life CAN look different in 40 days. Wait and see. But don't sit on your hands waiting. Be a participant looking for ways to get involved in the process. Remember, it's not about the destination, but the journey in getting there.
Now here's my compassion challenge -- ask yourself what you could spend $38 on. A new shirt. A dress. A purse. A few DVDs. Some New York Times best sellers that just came out. A round of happy hour drinks for you and a few friends. A parking ticket. Maybe a week of Starbucks lattes. A casual date night. A trip to Lowes. Some cutesie frames from Target....I'm sure you have other ideas as well. Those are just a few of the many things you could blow $38 on.
If you knew you could make a lasting impact on someone's life, would you do it? Would you invest the time, energy and effort to help another human being?
For $38/month you CAN help a child in need. This Lent season consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International. Compassion operates in 26 countries and has 6500 child development centers. Children come to these development centers after school to recieve food, healthcare, more education and vocational training. In addition, they learn about God and are given an opportunity for survival and success beyond their current situation.
The children in this program are not orphans. Although they have families, they live in poverty and have little hope for a prosperous future. Compassion comes into these communities and partners with local churches to help children ages 0 to 18 years old. To date there are over 1.5 million children sponsored by people like you and me. BUT there are over 100,000 children currently needing a sponsor.
Will you join with me and become a Compassion sponsor? Together we can make a difference. One of my desires is to see 10 children sponsored over the next 40 days through this blog platform. I am a Compassion sponsor. Will you be?
