As many of you know, I strive to live a healthy, fit lifestyle. I'm a firm believer in a well-balanced diet combined with daily exercise. This my friends, along with good sleep, makes a woman (or man) healthy, wealthy and wise! Or can at least give you a huge jumpstart in that direction! :)

Although these are some of my life mantras, we live in a society that lives completely the opposite. Most people eat microwaved, on-the-go, fast "food" (not sure it even qualifies as real food) -- "food" that is pretty bland, color-less and overly processed. As I heard someone say: "If it was created in a lab, it requires a lab to digest." Why do we think one of the most popular over the counter drugs out there is Tums and its counterparts? Because people need help digesting their food!
The standard American diet is S.A.D. It is a variation of brownish-whitish tones: bread, potatoas, pasta, chicken, dairy….And to spice those bland foods up, we add large amounts of sauces, creams and dressings to give them some flavor. It's S.A.D. when you sit back and think about it.
People say: "I don't have time to eat healthy." OR "I don't have enough money to eat healthy. It's so dang expensive." How to start? Start now. Start small. Make one positive change today! Instead of focusing on what to cut out of your current diet, focus on what you can ADD to your diet. Start adding more and more healthy choices each day and you will notice your tastebuds changing and adapting to those new foods. Your cravings for those S.A.D. foods will decrease and you will start to notice a change in your energy levels and mood. Trust me! Give it a try.
