It's about growth, not perfection. But so often we get bogged down in living up to the expectations in our minds that we forget about the process--the journey of growth.
We know when we plant a seed, it doesn't grow overnight. But why in our personal lives do we expect immediate results? We don't think we need to go through the process of learning. We want to be a star right out of the gate.
We compare to others and say, look at that overnight success. But the truth is there's no such thing as an "overnight success." It's just that we don't see the days, weeks, months, years and many times decades leading up to that person's success.
A great quote I love says:
"The moment of success isn't apparent to the crowd."
So true!! The moment of success isn't at the championship winning the medal in front of thousands. It isn't signing the "big deal." Rather the moment of success is when the person makes those sacrifices day in and day out reaching for their goal.
Remove the expectation of perfection from yourself. Throw off that weight. Give yourself the freedom to learn, grow, fail, fall and get back up.
Plant a seed--set a goal and then get busy watering it, taking care of it and nurturing it consistently. Take joy in the process of growth. There's where real Life is.
