If you're anything like me, this year has probably already thrown you a curve ball or two (or three or four!!!). And when things unexpected happen, it's easy to fall into reactive mode. We start to feel the pressure of life squeeze in on us. We start to feel like victims to Time. We throw out this year's goals and resolutions and say we'll start again next year--it's just too hard. We revert to survival mode.
I know because I've been there. It's a battle day in and day out--week after week--month after month. Will I just survive this year or will I THRIVE? I have to choose every day how to live. Like you, I don't get to control my circumstances, but I do control how I react to any and every situation.
So regardless of how the last 59 days have gone, I choose to not live in reactive mode, but PROactive mode. I choose to exercise my mind, body and spirit on a daily basis. I choose to build up those around me instead of tear them down. I choose how I spend my time and energy. I choose to live with mindfulness and authenticity.
And don't think I've had 59 days of bliss either and this whole choosing to thrive thing is easy. No! It's not! I've bounced around between a couple part-time jobs; went to 2 funerals in 3 weeks; navigated through some tough conversations with family members and more. But the point is I choose to thrive and not dwell on my circumstances. I choose to have gratitude in the here and now.
So "to infinity and beyond" (or at least on to March!). So long February!
