Those are the words that come to mind when I think back over the past 100 days.
I moved back from Europe nearly 100 days ago (hard to believe!). I took some R&R to catch my breath, adjust, recalibrate, visit family and then moved to New York a month ago. I'm living in the City, working for a startup and loving it. Really loving it!
Amidst the move, new job, adjusting to a new normal...this transition has gone so smoothly. Better than I could ask for or imagine. I'm so blessed and grateful.
I’m living in Manhattan (upper East Side for now) and loving it. It reminds me of Europe in many ways — like a combination of Paris, Rome, London, Madrid, Barcelona...yet with a flare all it’s own. I mean after all, it is New York. There’s no place quite like it.
New York, New York: the City so nice they named it twice.
I love walking the streets and hearing a myriad of languages. It humbles me. Makes me grateful for our wonderful country. Reminds me how creative God is who shows no favoritism for race, language or nationality…He looks at all peoples the same. We are all equal in His sight. No person is greater than another.
I love small. As strange as that might sound, after living in Missouri, Texas, Florida, Colorado and Europe, I find Beauty in the small and simple. Bigger isn’t always better. You’d actually be surprised how much you can do with little — a small frig, small apartment...And I’m constantly impressed at the restaurant and store owners — they know how to make every square inch count!
And to all the gym go-ers, you don’t know how crowded a group fitness class can get until you’ve taken one in the City! Talk about sardines, one on top of the other.
Perhaps that’s because I take time to notice them. I make a point to smile and say please and thank you. I find regardless of where we live (whether small town or big), it’s the little things like that, that make the world of a difference. And done frequently over time, make a difference in the world.
I truly see more and more how one kind word, one small deed or just a smile can boost someone's spirits and bring out the Beauty in them. Suddenly you see a twinkle in their eye and you walk past knowing you just made their day better.
So that’s me - a short update from NYC and glimpse into my Life as I continue sailing into this new season Living, Loving and Learning.
Hugs and hoping you had a joy-filled holiday last week.
