Being fully aware. Being fully present. Being engaged. Loving even when it's hard to do. Having patience when no one else around you is patient. Thinking before firing off your response to that family member (can anyone relate to that?!?).
The heart of Christmas is the manager and the One who laid in it. The heart of Christmas is Christ. Thus the heart of Christmas is everything Christ represents:
The good. Perfect. Beautiful. The loving, patient and kind. The joy. The peace. The truth. The holy. -- The heart of Christmas is God. The heart of Christmas is LOVE.
He turned in His royal robes and crown for sandals and a simple pair of clothes. He exchanged His palace for a stable and manager. He exchanged everything so that He could have US.
He came and dwelt among us. He was, He is and will always be IMMANUEL: God with us.
Stop. Pause. Reflect. Think about the reason for the season as cliche as it might sound. Don't lose sight of the joy, love and holiness to be celebrated. We have EVERY reason to rejoice because God is with us. He is IMMANUEL.
