Tim's Place, also known as the world's friendliest restaurant, opened in 2010 by Tim Harris. Tim, born in 1986 with Down Syndrome, currently owns and operates the restaurant. Although some people might think he is limited in what he can do, his resumé puts most people to shame. Not only was he voted homecoming king and student of the year in high school, he has earned dozens of medals (even more golds than Michael Phelps) in the Special Olympics. In addition, he is a college graduate and worked at a handful of well known restaurants before he opened up his own place.
Tim is a guy that's dreaming big dreams and living them out! He takes customer service to the next level. Talk about making people feel valued, this guy does it! He could teach a business school class on customer appreciation!
Take a few minutes, watch the video below and pay attention to his dialogue. Here's a guy that could have a lot to complain about, but he does just the opposite. He possesses a passion for life and people. He desires to make a difference in the world and he's doing that one hug at a time! Talk about inspiration!….now go, have a great day! And give someone a hug!
We serve breakfast, lunch and HUGS….
This is Tim's place -- the SPECIAL place to be at….
My favorite part of all is THE PEOPLE coming through the front door….
The HUGS are way more important than the food...the food is food….
I am a lean, mean, hugging machine!….
I've won more medals than Michael Phelps….
I did NOT let my disability crush my dreams….
We are a GIFT to the world.
