Ok God, what's the Life You have planned for me?
Since doing that, I've been blown away by the things that have come my way. It's that oxymoron: when you open your hands and let go, MORE comes to you.
I can tell you, that principle is completely true. When we surrender our dreams and plans in exchange for what God has in store for us, well let me just say, get ready for a wild, crazy, fun ride. You start to soar and be the person you were created to be all along.
Continuing with the story: so we met, exchanged contact info and have been pen pals ever since. Barb is an American who married a Belgian and 4 kids later, here they are. She's been a wonderful friend and resource for me as I transition from American to European life.
We had chemistry when we first met and it was just one of those Godwinks in my books. When people ask me how I met this family, I just say, oh they're my airport friends.
They invited me to join them on their "holiday" in the north of France and I accepted! Yesterday was travel day which was no small undertaking. I took the high speed train from Luxembourg to Paris (3 hrs) where they met me. From there we crammed in the minivan (7 of us & luggage!!!) and drove to the northwest coast of France - Bretagne region (5 hr trip).
After that everyone loaded up to explore Le Grand Blockhaus - one of the largest and last standing German bunkers along the Atlantic Wall. It wasn't liberated until May 1945. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the area and especially for me as I have a grandfather who fought in World War II. He turns 90 next July.
Vacationing with children is an adventure no doubt! There's never a dull moment: getting everyone out the door in a timely manner, taking potty breaks, reminding them NOT to touch the museum artifacts, seeing beauty through their eyes.....it's fun. It's good. It's challenging, but Life-giving at the same time and I'm doing it. I'm Learning. Loving. Living Life with a capital "L."
